India's largest football playing district
There is a reason why the MDFA is India's largest and biggest football playing district. Over 1,550 teams and 26,900 players across the city participate every year in various tournaments including school and college tournaments.
More than 1,200 games are played out in different venues. St Xavier's Sports Complex, Cooperage Football Ground, Karantak Sports Association (KSA), Goans Football Ground and Poinsur Gymkhana are among the venues where matches take place.
There is also a strong I-league presence in MDFA leagues. The participation of Mumbai FC, Air India and ONGC (Oil and Natural Gas Corporation) every year has made MDFA more big and unique.
